Mona El Hallak è un’architetta e attivista per la conservazione del patrimonio basata a Beirut. Dal 2017 è anche direttrice dell’Iniziativa per il Vicinato all’Università Americana di Beirut (AUB), in Libano, che si occupa di vivibilità e diversità, promuovendo la cittadinanza critica all’interno della comunità della AUB. Ha portato avanti varie campagne sulla conservazione del patrimonio ed è riuscita a salvare dalla demolizione l’edificio Barakat, oggi divenuto Beit Beirut, il museo della memoria della città. E’ membro attivo di Beirut Madinati e di APSAD (Associazione per la Protezione dei Siti e delle Antiche Dimore in Libano).

Mona El Hallak is a Beirut-based architect and heritage preservation activist. Since 2017, she is also the Director of the Neighbourhood Initiative at the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Lebanon, working on Beirut’s liveability, vitality, and diversity, while promoting critical citizenship among the AUB community. She led several heritage preservation campaigns and succeeded in saving the Barakat Building from demolition - now Beit Beirut, the museum of memory of the city. She is an active member of Beirut Madinati and of APSAD (Association pour la Protection des Sites et Anciens Demeures au Liban).
